My sister frequently gets me books that I can't get through my interlibrary loan system. The most recent time, she left the receipt inside one of the books. At the bottom, it had a total for how much the items cost, or how much the library saved you.
Inspired by this, I've decided to tally the worth of the items we check out in the month of July. (We currently have other items out from June, but I've decided to tally as we check them out). Some items were hard to find prices for if they were out of print, so I used the price listed on the cover. Not included in my tally is the cost of craft supplies we use weekly after story time, the prizes from the summer reading program, or the wages of the librarians who help us every visit.
