Since literacy is my background, I'm much more comfortable with the alphabet than with numbers. But, we will be spending more time on numbers once we finish the alphabet. I'm trying to be careful not to over do the numbers, though, because counting again and again doesn't seem like much fun to me. I also want to work on other math topics like shapes and patterns.
Counting Books:
Duck and Goose 123 by Tad Hills
123 Peas by Keith Baker
One Witch by Laura Leuck
Counting in the Garden by Kim Parker
Ten Wriggly Wiggle Caterpillars by Debbie Tarbett
Fisher Price Little People Numbers with Teacher Terry
Ten Tiny Babies by Karen Katz
Counting Our Way to Maine by Maggie Smith
Ten in Bed by David Ellwand
Hippos Go Beserk by Sandra Boynton
Little Pookie by Sandra Boynton
I had gotten behind on prepping letter of the week around Halloween, so I thought we'd take a break and do a week about numbers.

We put together a jig saw puzzel with the numbers 0-9. Natalie was
really proud about her improvement at jigsaw puzzles. Afterwards, we
recited the numbers. We also counted some of the objects. Natalie also
did a couple of coloring sheets from a Little People coloring book
featuring numbers. |

First we lines up the blocks in numerical order. Then we put the right
number of buttons on each block. Natalie struggled a bit because she
wanted to outline the number, not necessarily use the number of buttons
the number represented. |
