Zombie Contingency Plan

So, I got thinking about my Zombie Contingency Plan this morning. Really, there are two versions to this plan. The first is, we need to leave the house for a short period of time, and the other that we are leaving for good. This plan really isn't just for zombies, it also works for nuclear war, infectious diseases, and gas leaks.

Sometimes when I think of these things I want to go pack emergency boxes. Like packing a box of mementos to bring so that we wouldn't have to waste time gathering them. Or having duplicate items that are just packed away for emergencies.

What I Would Pack if We Had A Hour to Leave the House:
If we were leaving for a short while:
  • Diapers and wipes
  • All the baby food and snacks in the pantry
  • Natalie's clothes
  • sippy cups
  • A bag of toys and books for Natalie
  • My lap top
  • Cellphone and charger
  • MP3 player
If we were leaving for good:
  • All the medicine in the closet
  • batteries
  • portable radio
  • basic tools - hammer, nails, screwdriver, saw, shovels, rope, duct tape
  • All the flashlights, candles, and matches
  • As much of the food in the house as possible
  • Cooking essentials - knifes, kettel, a few pots, plastic dishes, silverware, plastic cups
  • All the blankets, a few pillows
  • Play pen
  • All the coats and sweatshirts, hats, gloves, socks
  • Fill every available seal-able container with water
  • A large selection of Mike and my clothes, keeping seasons in mind
  • tampons and pads
  • laundry detergent, dish soap, soap, shampoo
  • towels
  • Passports, birth certificates, marriage license
  • deck of cards, Uno, and couple other board games
  • paper, pens, crayons
  • A few mementos - the framed photographs (discard the frames later), journal, favorite books, Snuffles bear
  • If everything was packed and we had room and time, I might pack extra books, perfume, make up, a few DVDs, more photographs, toilet paper and tissues.
